I have been informed that there will be a meeting for Beacon Studios tenants to discuss the issues at hand. The meeting will take place next Monday January 24th at 7pm at the Coffee Shoppe.

Last night's meeting was an informal get together at the coffee shoppe with a handful of tenants from beacon studios. We discussed our perspectives, plans and the bits and pieces of information we have received individually in effort to begin a more collective dialogue amongst tenants.
ReplyDeleteSome of the topics that were discussed are as follows:
The lack of transparency in the plans for the development of high school and what can be done in order to retrieve more information; including a time line for construction, relocation or eviction. Whether we choose to stay or go, these issues need to be addressed (in writing) in order for us to make plans to move on or consider a future in the high school that may include being surrounded by construction and/or an higher rent costs.
A suggestion was made to form an alliance that could potential represent us as a collective entity as well as cultivate the sense of community we experienced as tenants of the high school. I think we all fear that if everyone disperses, we risk losing that collective energy.
The coffee shoppe will hold an open forum next Monday at 7:00pm, as this concerns all current residents of the high school as well tax-payers and citizens of beacon.
I hope others that attended last night might add there perspectives as well.
